Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had caused observers to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He defended 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
